It’s a pleasure to work with others in the LIHTC industry who share the same goal and mission of helping solve the housing crisis in this country. Driving by projects that I worked on makes the day-to-day work worth it. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and pride to know that I helped provide safe and comfortable homes for families who need them.
Focusing his practice on federal tax, partnership, and real estate law, Mark Iafrate represents nonprofit and for-profit investors, syndicators, lenders, and housing authorities in financing Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties at the project and fund levels. Counseling clients on various aspects of LIHTC transactions gives Mark valuable insight into the multifaceted deals he helps generate.
Because LIHTC transactions entail complex structuring and multiple financing sources, Mark takes a proactive, forward-thinking approach to help clients avoid tax traps and other pitfalls. With a solid ability to work quickly and well under pressure, Mark applies his excellent organizational skills to keep projects on track and stay on top of new developments.
Growing up around his family’s concrete business, Mark understands the pressures faced by modern construction companies. Earlier in his career, Mark served as a housing coordinator for a refugee resettlement agency, providing residence arrangements for hundreds of newly resettled people in the United States. The position introduced him to the world of low-income housing and inspired him to make a career there.
