Klein Hornig worked with our client HRI Communities to complete a seven-phased redevelopment of the long-blighted, 23-acre former Iberville Public Housing Development, built in 1942 and located adjacent to New Orleans’ famous French Quarter, into a vibrant, mixed-use, mixed-income community now known as Bienville Basin. This development now provides 682 total housing units, of which 304 are Choice Neighborhoods Initiative public housing replacement units.

Klein Hornig (KH) represented both HRI and their co-developer McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc. from the earliest days of this multi-year, multi-phase Choice Neighborhoods Initiative (CNI) redevelopment effort.

KH helped support the successful application for a $30.5 million CNI grant in 2011, negotiated multiple agreements with the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) and the City of New Orleans allowing for demolition and infrastructure activities across the site, and structured and closed numerous phases of new construction and historic rehabilitation both on the Iberville site and offsite in the surrounding neighborhood.
